This study analyzed the dependences of precipitation, snow depth, heavy rainfall, and heavy snowfall on temperature at ten meteorological observatories located in the Sea of Japan side of the Tohoku and the Hokuriku regions. Annual maximum snow depth depends on winter (from December to February) mean temperature, and in case of winter mean temperature rising, the higher the winter mean temperature of the site, the larger the decreasing rates of annual maximum snow depth become. Winter precipitation depends on winter mean temperature at the most of meteorological observatories in the Hokuriku region, but dose not depend on it at the most of meteorological observatories in the Tohoku region. Warm season (from May to October) precipitation dose not depend on warm season mean temperature. The frequency of heavy snowfall depends on winter mean temperature. On the other hand, the frequency of heavy rainfall does not depend on warm season mean temperature.
