石川海岸周辺の広域流砂系に関する研究の一環として, 松任地区における沿岸砂州の長期変動特性を解析した. 対象領域全域において, 砂州は多段であり, 沖側砂州は, 最大で6m程度の比高を有している. これらの砂州は, 10年前後の周期で変動しており, 観測期間中に約4周期の変動が確認された. 沖側砂州の移動範囲は, 1980年代に一時的に縮小し, この要因の1つとして, 離岸堤の建設など, 人為的な影響が示唆された. 岸側および沖側砂州の頂部位置の変動は逆位相に近く, 両者間距離にも周期的な増減が見られた.また, 砂州頂部の沖向き移動速度は, 沖側砂州と岸側砂州で異なり, 岸側砂州の移動速度は沖側砂州の1/3程度であった
