In the full grown larva of the silkworm, Bombyx mori, when it is in the state of quiescence after having taken meal, we can witness either by means of a magnifying-glass or with naked eye, a slow and minute shaking movement of the head as well as some consecutive thoracic segments. For the convenience of reference, this movement will be called the "head-shaking movement." At the same time we see a rhythmical depressive movement of the integument alternately on both sides of the dorsal median line near the boundary between the second and the third thoracic segments
