This article is to show that, for the main authors of the Utopian socialism, the concept of mass is the organizing principle for the politically desired society. Through a comparative analysis between the ideas of Saint-Simon, Charles Fourier and Robert Owen, we can see that, to this school of thought, the mass is either as representative of the social order that the poor should be to seek their emancipation social, or as symbolic incarnation of cooperation, the true social wisdom, as is well summarized by Owenian thought.
