This paper aimed to find the simplest applicable protocol to calculate VO2 max in primary schools as a tool to detect future talent in sports. The methodology used was based on literature research of full articles on bases such like SciELO, PubMed, FIEP Bulletim, Plos One and Google Scholar. Using physical education can increase the number of Brazilian athletes. Therefore, we should notice the importance of physical education because in the schools there are thousands of children and among those probably many sporting talents can be easily detected with the VO2max calculation protocol "Shuttle run", which is simpler and cheaper to perform by schools.
