Collaboration between doctors and nurses is important for improving quality of care and patient safety within the hospital. The purpose of this study was to investigate what are the variables affecting the team efficacy of the medical students and nurses. The subjects of this study were 161 first year medical students in Incheon and Busan, and 63 third year and 56 fourth year nursing students in Ulsan. As a result, it showed that the medical students were significantly higher than the nursing students in communication, interpersonal relationship understanding, proactivity in problem solving, and team efficacy. In addition, interpersonal relationship understanding and the proactivity in problem solving were the factors affecting the team efficacy of medical students and nursing students. This results are expected to be used as basic data for improving team efficacy and team performance in the hospital organization.
