Using an electromagnetic (EM) calorimeter and lead absorbers in the beam, the non-EM backgrounds (muons and hadrons) in the nominal 300 GeV e<sup>-</sup> and e<sup>+</sup> beams were measured to be approximately 6 % and 37 % respectively
