This periodical covers the results of inspections performed by the NRC`s Special Inspection Branch, Vendor Inspection Section, that have been distributed to the inspected organizations during the period from October 1994 through December 1994. The Vendor Inspection Section (VIS) of the Special Inspection Branch reviews and inspects nuclear steam system suppliers (NSSSs), architect engineering (AE) firms, suppliers of products and services, independent testing laboratories performing equipment qualification tests, and holders of NRC licenses (construction permit holders and operating licenses) in vendor-related areas. These inspections are performed to assure that the root causes of reported vendor-related problems are determined and appropriate corrective actions are developed. The inspections also review the vendors` conformance with applicable NRC and industry quality requirements, the adequacy of licensees` oversight of their vendors, and that adequate interfaces exist between licensees and vendors
