The works regarded as Norwid’s conversations with the dead have already been focused on by numerous scholars. They have been interpreted in isolation, as separate texts, and as a peculiar whole, reduced to one in a generic fashion.1 Let us start with a brief survey of some of the findings. The tradition of Elysian dialogues is recalled in the context of three literary texts by Norwid and one engraving. The literary texts are: Vendôme (1849), Do – Henryka... (Fraszka) (1851) and Rozmowa umarłych: Byron, Rafael-Sanzio (ca. 1857). Norwid also created an etching entiled “Dialogue des Morts”. Rembrandt–Phidias (1871)2. Thus, the corpus is quite limited.
