تشهد العلوم المعاصر ثورة قویة فى التحول من العلوم التقلیدیة التی تهتم بالدراسات السطحیة غیر المتعمقة، إلى میلاد علوم جدیدة تبحث فی جواهر الأمور وبتعمق فجاءت "علوم المسنین" قائمة بذاتها، فی الوقت الذی تعد فیه الثروة البشریة فی المجتمعات العربیة قوة لا یستهان بها، وعنصرا هاما وأساسیا وفاعلا فی سبیل التقدم والتطور والتحضر والریادة المنشودة فیها، فی ذات الوقت الذی تمر فیه المنطقة العربیة بمنعطف خطـیر، بات یعـرف "بالربیع العـربی"، وهو المصطلح الذی أطلق على الأحداث التی طرأت علی بعض المجتمعات العربیة. وانبثقت مشکلة البحث الحالی من أهمیة دراسة بعض المتغیرات التی استحدثت علی المجتمع إثر ذلک، وحدوث انفلات أخلاقی لدی بعض الشباب، فأثر بصورة مباشرة فی ذوات وحیاة المسنین، النفسیة والاجتماعیة، وسلوکیات تؤذى مشاعرهم، کان ذا أثر سلبی علی جوانبهم الاجتماعیة والنفسیة، کعدم الرضا عن الحیاة، وعدم التکیف، والشعور بالعجز، فالمشکلة الاجتماعیة موقف ینجم عن ظروف بیئیة مجتمعیة یؤثر على الذات، فتحتاج إلی معالجة إصلاحیة، مما أکد إلی توفیر أدوار موصوفة وأدوار ممارسة فاعلة لأخصائی رعایة المسنین، وقائیة وعلاجی وتنبؤیة وإرشاد وتوجیه بالمقابلة والملاحظة ودراسة الحالة، وغیرها. وهدف البحث تعرف الخلفیة الثقافیة الداعمة فی الوصول لمظاهر وملامح المشکلات المجتمعیة المستحدثة، وواقعها، والدور الموصوف والدور الممارس لأخصائی رعایة المسنین فی مواجهتها، واتبع المنهج (الوصفی التحلیلی) للمسح المیدانی، وجاءت خطوات البحث فی الإجابة عن أسألته، فأکدت وجود مشکلات اجتماعیة، وثقافیة وغیرها، وخلصت النتائج إلی أن للدور الموصوف والدور الممارس لأخصائی رعایة المسنین فی مواجهة المشکلات المجتمعیة المستحدثة ذا أهمیة کبیرة، وقائیا، وعلاجیا، وتنمویا، لتحقیق العدالة الاجتماعیة، والدور الموصوف والدور الممارس وقواعد تقدیم الخدمات والرعایة الاجتماعیة کالاستقامة المهنیة، والکفاءة المهنیة، والأمانة والاستقامة المهنیة، وأوصی البحث بتفعیل المسؤولیات الأخلاقیة لأخصائی رعایة المسنین، کاحترام قیمة وکرامة الإنسان، تحقیق العدالة الاجتماعیة، تقدیم الخدمات الاجتماعیة، الاستقامة المهنیة، الکفاءة المهنیة...وغیرها، العمل علی وجود أبحاث تجریبیة وشبه تجریبیة متقدمة علی إثر هذا البحث للوقوف علی نقاط عدیدة وهامة فى ذات الموضوع قد یکون البحث الحالی غفل عنها دون عمد، والوقوف علی أسباب عزوف بعض الشباب عن تأدیة واجباتهم تجاه رعایة المسنین وفی کافه المیادین، وتدشین موقع إلکترونی یدون به کل خبرات الشیوخ (المسنین)، لیستقی الشباب من خبراتهم، وأن یصبح عام 2018م، تحت مسمی (عام المسنون) "هم تاج علی رؤوسنا".
