In most cases, sodium chloride is a major salt contaminant in such soils, it has a small molecule size and when oxidized by water, produces Na+ and Clions, which are easily absorbed by the root cells of higher plants and transferred to the whole plant causing ionic and osmotic stresses at the cellular level of such plants, (Rodriguez-Navarro and Rubio, 2006).

Effect of using some soil conditioners on salt affected soil properties and its productivity at El-Tina Plain area - North Sinai - Egypt.
