Global warming showed an increase of 0.6°C in the last century, this is unprecedented in the last 1000 years. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2001) predicted that global temperatures are likely to be increased by 1.4 to 6.4°C in this century. Air temperature is the main controller governing water temperature in rivers and oceans. Temperature is an effective environmental factor for the biology of different animals. For fishes, being poikilothermic organisms, they are affected by the ambient temperature of the water (Britz et al., 1997; Azevedo et al., 1998).
