The Arabic warrior in the Pre-Islamic era preferred to take a slave woman as a wife because she would not take a dowry from him. And if one of these spoils gave birth to a child for her owner, her life was changed, she would get a good position in her master’s house, and was set free after his death. The same phenomena continued in the Islamic era as well. The slave woman who gave birth to a son for her master was called “Umm walad” , and thus the slave women had more chances of emancipation than the male slaves and so that their lives would be transferred from slavery to freedom in the Pre-Islamic and the Islamic era too.
