A tow-year field experiment was carried out at El-Serw Agricultural Research Station, during 2018 and 2019 seasons to study the effect of intercropping cowpea with three maize cultivars (SC 168, SC176 and TWC 321) and four N fertilization treatments [120 kg N/fed as urea (100% N mineral), 50% N mineral + 50% N nano, 75% N mineral + 25% N nano and 6.6 L/fed nano urea (100% N nano) on maize/cowpea productivity, land use efficiency and economic return. A split-plot design with three replicates was used. The results could be summarized as follows:- Maize cultivars had significant effect on yield and yield attributes of maize in both seasons, except stem diameter and No. of rows/ear in second season. S.C.168 hybrid gave the highest grain yield and its components in comparison with other hybrids. Applying 75% N mineral along with 25% N nano significantly increased growth, yield and yield components of maize in both seasons, except No. of rows/ear in first seasons. No.of green leaves/plant, LAI, ear length and diameter, ear weight, grain weight, 100-grain weight and grain yield were significantly affected by maize cultivars x N nano-mineral fertilization in both seasons, where the highest values were realized at maize SC168 with 75% N mineral + 25% N nano fertilization. Intercropping maize cultivars with cowpea affected significantly on cowpea traits (plant height, No. of branches/plant, No. of leaves/plant, LAI, forage yield of 1st and 2nd cuts as well as total forage yield/fed in both seasons.
