ICADINDAN GUNUMUZE PORTRE FOTOĞRAFINDA “YEREL VE GLOBAL” KIMLIK KURGUSU * LOCAL AND GLOBAL IDENTITY CONSTRUCT IN PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY SINCE ITS INVENTION Oz Gunumuzde sanatsal uretimin yerel ve evrensel kodlariyla beraber iktidarin kuresel dagilimina bagli oldugu tartismalari mevcuttur. Bireyci ve pragmatist bir cagin zorunluluklari, ‘kimlik ve temsil’ olgusunun elestirel bir cercevede tartisilmasini da gerektirir. Oznel ya da sosyal, her turlu iletisim alanini etkileyen dil, uyum ve temsil iliskileri, cagimizin modern insanini tanimlayici nitelikler kazandirmistir. Yerel ve global tarih bilincinin insan trajedileri uzerine kurulu oldugunu dusundugumuzde fotograf sanatinda iz birakan belgesel fotografcilarin sistematik bir bicimde urettigi portreleri incelemek gerekir. Ornegin, Kuzey Amerika’nin son yerli kabilelerini fotograflayan Edward S. Curtis’in (1868-1952) “kimligin parcalanmasina” (yok edilmesine) yonelik ifadesi etnografik ve antropolojik disiplin acisindan degerlendirilir. August Sander’in (1876-1964) 1920’lerde Alman insaninin portre fotograflarindan olusan “tipolojik” calismasi kimligin olusmasina kapi aralayan bir bakisi temsil eder. “Yabancilasma”nin temsilcilerinden Robert Frank (1924-) “Amerikalilar” serisinde estetik arayislarina bir kulturu dâhil ederken, H.Cartier Bresson (1908-2004) “Avrupalilar” calismasinda “kulturel degisimi” ifade etmistir. Bu makale gunumuz dunyasinda varolus bicimi haline gelen kimligin globalize edilmesinin fotograf sanati ve Portre Fotografi alanindaki karsiliklarini vurgulamaktadir. Anahtar Kelimeler : Kimlik. Fotograf Sanati. Portre Fotografi. Fotograf Tarihi. Abstract Nowadays, it is argued that artistic production, along with its local and universal codes, depends on the global distribution of power. In fact, this individualistic and pragmatic era requires a critical approach in discussing identity and representation .  The relations between language, harmony and representation, which affect all kinds of communication media, whether subjective or social, define modern man. Given that local and global history consciousness is based on human tragedies, it becomes necessary to examine the portraits systematically produced by documentary photographers who marked the art of photography. For example, the works of Edward S. Curtis (1868-1952), who photographed the last local tribes in North America and created an expression showing the “deconstruction of identity” (destruction), are analyzed from an ethnographic ad anthropological point of view. August Sander’s (1876- 1964) “typological” work composed of portrait photographs of German people in the 1920s represents an approach paving the way for identity construction.  Robert Frank (1924), who is one of the representatives of “alienation”, involves a culture in his search for aesthetics with his collection of photographs called “The Americans” while H. Cartier Bresson (1908-2004) displays “cultural transformation” in his work “The Europeans”. This article highlights the equivalent aspects in Photography Art and Portrait Photography, of the globalization of identity which is still ongoing and has even turned into a survival strategy in today’s world.
