Greenberg and Mitchell (1983) wrote that the term “object relations” refers to the individual’s relations with other people, the individual’s relations with internal object representations, as well as the interaction between the internal object world and the external object reality. The theory of object relations is not a uniform theory − it consists of contributions from different authors who developed their own theoretical models, sometimes quite independently from other authors. The Test of Object Relations (TOR; Žvelc, 1998, 2007, 2008, 2010a, 2010b) measures the quality of object relations in adulthood. The test was created on the basis of Loevinger’s (1957) model of test construction and Jackson’s (Jackson, 1970, 1971) sequential system of construction.
