This is the review of the work “Introduction a la socio-historie (2006)”, by Gerard Noiriel. When addressing the socio-genesis of social history, Noiriel establishes an important understanding of the trajectory of a form of thought which is shared even by himself. Plus, since it has not been translated into Portuguese, this study deserves entry into the Brazilian scientific scenario due to the discussions it proposes, particularly by establishing dialogue with recognized sociologists, such as Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx, Max Weber, Pierre Bourdieu and Norbert Elias, important for the humanities and social sciences applied in our times.
