吸着性及び耐久性の面で優れたカーボン充てんカラムを用いたICによって,外用医薬品及び化粧品用色素中の微量塩化物,臭化物及び硫酸塩の定量を行った.Acid red92など,8種実試料の塩化物,臭化物及び硫酸塩の測定結果は,それぞれ4.3,1.4及び0.4%以下であり,"医薬品等に使用することができるタール色素を定める省令"で定められた限度値以下であった.又,酸素フラスコ燃焼法によって,総臭素及び総硫黄を定量し,純色素含量を求めたところ,省令による滴定法,又は重量法の値とよく一致した.カーボン充てん剤の吸着性を利用して,前処理カートリッジに捕集できなかった色素をカラム内に捕集し,前処理法を補い,かつサプレッサーの劣化を防ぐことができた.更に,数か月に一度,アセトニトリルを用いてカラム内の色素を溶出,洗浄することによって,約1年間にわたり精度よく測定することができた.
