本論文では,その容易な被加水分解性のために,誘導体化法としてこれまでほとんど取り上げられてこなかったサイクリックボロネートに着目した,主としてHPLC法による高選択的高感度分析法の提言について記述した.すなわち,水系において安定に存在する非加水分解性ボロネートの分離・検出法を見いだしたことにより,取り分けジオール構造を有する化合物の,迅速かつ高感度検出の可能な新しい分離・分析法を確立するに至った.ここでは1)新規ボロン酸誘導体を用いるジオール系化合物の逆相系HPLCによる高選択的高感度検出法,2)光学活性ボロン酸誘導体を用いるジオール対掌体の光学分割法,3)ボロン酸固定化ゲルを用いるブラシノステロイド類の高選択的抽出法,4)分子軌道法に基づく分子構造とボロネートの安定性との相関に関する定量的扱い,について未発表データを含めて記述した.
