This article investigates whether various factors affect attendance rates at university lectures, and whether there is any relationship between attendance and exam performance. Data were collected over 7 years from a 3 rd Year statistics module. It was found that the time of day that the lecture occurred made no difference to attendance, and that there was no difference in attendance between the genders. It was discovered that an increase in tuition fees led to a rise in attendance. Additionally, it was observed that higher attendance rates led to better exam performance.
