The gate geometry has a direct influence on casting properties.It was proven that changes in gate dimension (height) influencethe permanent deformation values and die cast porosity. Thepresent paper discusses the issue whether changes in gatedimension may affect the structural composition of eutecticsilumin. It presents results of the microsection analysis ofsamples taken from castings made with different gate dimensionsto compare the phase alpha and phase beta proportion formingeutecticum. Consequently, conclusions are drawn to examine theinflu-ence of gate dimensions on the cast eutectic structure aswell as the structure correlation and the selected me-chanicalproperties.
