Historical urban systems of cities are currently frequently associated with the “centre” – the centre of various services and place of the greatest activity of the residents. Unfortunately, city squares, constituting the “heart of the city”, serve people less and less, and are dominated by cars. The phenomenon can be observed based on the example of Mińsk Mazowiecki, a city with “two market squares", where in spite of the conducted socalled revitalisation of the medieval square, it does not fulfil the assumed centre-forming role in the spatial structure of the city.
