We developed a pixel-parallel image processing algo-rithm for detecting and tracking temporally modu-lated light signals for use as optical ID tags. The pro-posed algorithm requires no wavelength lters and ob-tains position information on signals at a high framerate while decoding transmitted data. We imple-mented the proposed algorithm in a digital vision chip,a pixel-parallel processor embedded in a CMOS imagesensor, and proved it to be operationally feasible.Keywords: ID tag, optical tag, target tracking, highspeedvision, vision chip
