A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo remontar a evolução de cinco padrões gráficos antropomórficos pré-históricos definidos para a Microrregião do Cariri  Ocidental paraibano. Esses padrões apresentam características próximas aos já determinados para a região Nordeste, inseridos em duas tradições rupestres: Nordeste e Agreste. Baseado nessas proximidades e se utilizando da análise cladística foi possível a observação, em termos locais, da evolução dos padrões definidos, possibilitado a criação de hipóteses de dispersão dos mesmos dentro da área pesquisada. Os resultados também oferecem subsídios para a confrontação das hipóteses de dispersão da Tradição Nordeste para o semiárido nordestino, conforme já discutido por alguns autores. EVOLUTION OF ANTHROPOMORPHIC GRAPHIC PATTERNS DEFINED FOR THE CARIRI OCIDENTAL MICROREGION, PB ABSTRACTThe present research aims to trace the evolution of five prehistoric anthropomorphic graphic patterns defined for the Cariri Ocidental Microregion, state of Paraíba, Brazil. These patterns present characteristics close to those already determined for northeastern Brazil, inserted in two rock traditions: Nordeste and Agreste. Based on these similarities and using the cladistic analysis, it was possible to observe, in local terms, the evolution of the defined patterns, making possible the creation of hypotheses of their dispersion within the researched area. The results also provide support for confrontation of hypotheses about the dispersion of the Nordeste Tradition in that region, as already discussed by some authors.Keywords: Rock paintings; cladistic analysis; Cariri Ocidental
