The time of concentration is the time that the water travels from the most distant point of the basin to the point considered. There are several formulas of time of concentration resulting from laboratory and fieldwork, and there is dispersion in the results from formula to formula. The objective of this paper is to analyze the effectiveness of different time of concentration formulas for an urban watershed. For this, the concentration time was calculated in nine formulas (Kinematic Method, Carter, Picking, Giandotti, Kirpich, Kirpich_DER, David, US Corps Engineers, Johnstone), applied to the Mindu Basin, Manaus, Amazonas, which has a 66 km2 and is 100% located in the urban area of the city. The effectiveness of the formulas was valid according to the mean flow velocity of the basin. The most suitable formula was that of the Kinematic Method, as indicated by the specialized literature. The Carter, Giandotti, Picking formulas are effective for the Mindu basin because they do not have a larger margin of error. While the formulas of Kirpich, Kirpich_DER, David, US Corps Engineers, Johnstone showed a larger margin of error, not being indicated for the basin.
