Teotitlan del Valle Zapotec has attracted attention, possibly due to the claims that it could be the direct heir of Colonial Zapotec, but its tonal system has largely been unexplored by linguists and Zapotec learners. The goal of this article is two-fold. The first goal is to present an oral text about Da Kreseːnsy ‘Don Crescencio’. The second goal is to characterize the tonal system and tonal processes in this Zapotec variety. As far as we know this is the first attempt at identifying and representing all the phonological and tonal contrasts in this language.
