O artigo investiga modos pelos quais pecas publicitarias de grandes eventos esportivos realizados no Brasil (Copa do Mundo de Futebol e Olimpiadas) sustentam mecanismos discursivos voltados ao jogo entre a memoria e a ideologia. Para isto, mobiliza conceitos da Analise de Discurso francesa, a saber: memoria discursiva e ideologia. Metodologicamente, o estudo filia-se ao paradigma indiciario de analise, cuja interpretacao permite reformular hipoteses iniciais. Por fim, aprofunda uma discussao sobre o alcance do determinante politico no discurso voltado ao recrutamento e a convocatoria univoca de toda a populacao a participar destes eventos.
