Background: Peripheral nerve trunk involvement in leprosy is very common. However, by the time it becomes clinically apparent, the damage is quite advanced. If the preclinical nerve damage is detected early, the deformities and disabilities can be prevented to a large extent. Materials and Methods: We conducted an electrophysiological study on 40 patients with clinical manifestions of leprosy. This study was done to assess the nerve conduction velocity, amplitude and latency of ulnar and median nerves. Results and Conclusion: We found reduced conduction velocities, besides changes in latency and amplitude in the affected nerves. Changes in sensory nerve conduction were more pronounced. Ulnar nerve was more commonly involved than the median nerve.
