The article describes a fragment of the system of proper names in the poems of one of the most famous Russian poets of the 20th century – S. Yesenin. The cycle “Persian motifs” shows the role of oriental onyms used by the writer to reproduce the brightness of the East that occupied an important place in the last years of the poet’s life. The paper dwells on such anthroponyms as names of lyrical characters, place names and geographical names.
