The article contributes to the revival of the name of the forgotten writer Ilya Dmitrievich Strelskiy’s (1881–1938), provides the basis for understanding of his creative biography and education in the context of social circumstances. Strelskiy actively participated in the literary life of Kursk in 1910–1920s. He was the editor of «Kursk Theatre» magazine (1915–1916), the first weekly art-illustrated edition in the city.
