The purpose of this article is to analyze the role of an educative component in teaching a foreign language at senior grades of school in Russia, including the way it is reflected in the normative documents of the Russian Federation. The article includes the examples of the tasks the main purpose of which is to activate the educative and developmental function of a foreign language as a subject at senior school. This stipulates for the practical importance of the article. The author analyzed the following documents: the Law on Education in the Russian Federation, FSES of secondary education and the Strategy for the Education Development in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025.
