The article is devoted to the problem of youth socialization – the school-leavers, who live in the conditions of a small city. On the basis of theoretical analysis and an example of concrete sociocultural environment (town of Sarov in Nizhniy-Novgorod region) it is proved that the creation of urban educational environment proves to be an effective method of using the sociocultural potential of a small city in the realization of the tasks of general education school is medium. Attention is accentuated on the system of cultural and additional training establishments, as well as on the content and trends in their activities.
