This paper introduces a new approach to remote sensing that combines spectral and polarimetric features of signals received from distant objects, providing spectral analysis of polarimetric variables. The detailed theory has been developed for the case of rain observation by active monostatic radar, however generalization for other objects and methods is made, and some examples of spectral polarimetric approach application in different fields are presented.
