Purpose – the purpose of this article is to present the idea of an audit of the Integrated Management System (IMS) as an instrument supporting enterprise management process and to provide its practical application in the enterprise. Design/methodology/approach – to achieve the purpose, analysis of literature in the field of internal audit, quality management and a case study on the audit process of the integrated management system was presented. Findings – the article presents the essence of IMS audit in accordance with the requirements of ISO standards. It also points to the value results of audits of QMS and EMS bring to the organization. The literature study and practical solutions lead to the conclusion that the IMS audit has a whole group of tasks, required by the ISO systems as well as resulting from internal regulations and requirements of the law. Originality/value – the paper is a practical presentation of the IMS audit and points to the advantages of this instrument.
