The aim of this research was to compare the Burnout syndrome incidence among Physical Education teachers and teachers from other subjects. The questionnaires were answered by 71 teachers. The instruments utilized were the MBI - Maslach Burnout Inventory and ISSL - Stress Symptoms Inventory for Adults by Lipp, and answered individually. The data indicates that 29,3% of the other subjects' teachers present the Burnout syndrome, while only 10% of the Physical Education teachers were affected. On both groups studied the most affected age rate was from 31 to 40 years old, especially for female married individuals (66,7%). Among the Physical Education teachers that were affected by the disease, the time of professional experience was between 5 to 10 years, and among the other subjects' teachers the incidence was between 10 to 20 years of professional experience. The Physical Education teachers present lower levels of the Burnout syndrome than the other subjects' teachers, and that difference may be related to different work environment and the higher practice of physical exercises.
