The article presents analysis of the iconographic patterns applied to the private elite tombs’ entrances during the reign of the 5th dynasty in the Saqqara necropolis. The entrance’s decoration is an important part of the entire pictorial program of the tomb. Therefore the detailed analysis of these images, as well as the associated inscriptions allows us to reveal its role and meaning. This article analyzes various architectural types of tombs’ entrances and its decoration, revealing typical artistic features of the Saqqara necropolis’s tombs of the 5th dynasty.
