The idea of the identity crisis and the lack of national consolidation in post-Soviet Russia has become today the common place of the Russian humanities. With that many researchers suggest that Russian society is want of some kind of national idea or a set of unifying values to overcome this crisis. The author, however, level criticism at such point trying to demonstrate that any society is unimaginable without cultural, value, moral, aesthetic and other types of diversity, and therefore movement towards national consolidation is only possible through the formation of the Russian identity in all its complexity and versatility.
