This paper deals with the optimization of the inventory levelthrough determining and applying the appropriate way for theprocurement of the inventory. It is important to determine theoptimization criteria which are proposed on the basis ofdefining the factors affecting the determination of theprocurement method. The criteria are proposed in such way inorder the costs are optimized, and at the same time, the riskof the inventory deficiency is reduced. The paper also containsthe algorithm regarding the determination of the appropriateprocurement method. This algorithm takes into account theparticular set of criteria and the proposal of multi-criteriamodel of the inventory management. Subsequently, the specificcases of costs reduction and reduction of risk of the inventorydeficiency when applying the proposed model in comparison withthe application of existing models are presented.
