Ante el miedo, el Derecho: Constitución y guerra en la Nueva Granada de 1815

This paper describes the social and political processes that surrounded the issue of the Antioquia’s Constitution in 1815. Based on such description, the paper presents an interpretation of the reasons why the constituents preferred a new Constitution instead of an act of reform of the 1812’s Constitution. In addition, this paper also outlines how the constitutional experience in the Nueva Granada ended in virtue of the Spanish reconquest, and criticizes the pejorative view of this period that was promoted a few years later.
