This study aims to examine the extent to which Brazilian culture is represented in textbooks for teaching Portuguese as a foreign language. The paper focuses on phraseological units (PUs), expressions that are peculiar to the language and that are immersed in the culture in which they are used. It is considered that these expressions are indispensable for communication.
