Current analysis discusses the Law of Access to Information (Law 12,527/2011) and good governance in 521 Brazilian municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants. This is a highly relevant theme, mainly due to important changes and obligations to public departments and has been undertaken through the hypothetic and deductive method plus field research in official sites of the municipalities employing the WWW network. The Law of Access to Information, its impacts on the municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants and good governance are analyzed. Research on municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants in five Brazilian states from each region was undertaken, namely, Rio Grande do Sul (South), Rio de Janeiro (South-East), Rio Grande do Norte (North East), Para (North) and Mato Grosso (Center West). Results show the importance of changes introduced by the Law of Access to Information, although with slight phatic repercussions on the municipalities, mainly those with fewer populations.
