Introduction: It is normal to occur during adolescence a rapid growth, as well as biological and psychosocial changes. It is a phase of high nutritional need and as a result, nutrition plays a considerable role in adolescent development. An inadequate nutrition may be not favorable to somatic growth and health later in life. Objective: The aims of the present study were to analyze the risks of eating disorders in adolescents from a public school and make an association among risks, anthropometry, gender, and age. Patients and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study involving 222 adolescents of both sexes attending a State School in the Northwest Region of Sao Paulo State. We used the questionnaire Eating Attitudes Test (EAT 26) and anthropometric evaluation. The descriptive analysis and Spearman correlation were used to evaluate the relations among variables. P <0.05 was considered as significant. Results: It was found that 64% of the adolescents were female and 76.9% of them presented eutrophy. Fifty-four adolescents presented a positive risk for eating disorders. There was a prevalence in female adolescents (P=0.00) and among adolescents with younger age (P=0.00). Conclusion: There is a positive risk for eating disorders among adolescents with predominance of females among adolescents with younger age.
