The aim of the study was to determine, with the use of a terrestrial laser scanner, volume of 7 tree species: Scots pine Pinus sylvestris, European larch Larix decidua, Douglas fir Pseudotsuga menziesii, Sessile oak Quercus petraea, Common beech Fagus silvatica, Sycamore maple Acer pseudoplatanus and Small-leaved lime Tilia cordata. The results were compared with the volume determined using volume tables and empirical equations. The measurements were taken on an experimental plot in the Zielonka Forest District. The experimental forest encompasses sample plots of 40-year old stands of the 7 analysed species growing under the canopy of 160-year old Scots pines. For the 7 examined species scans on 3 plots were made with the use of Faro LS 880. On every plot 5 model trees were analysed based on measurements of their diameters in onemeter intervals as well as DBH and tree height. The measurements were taken using FARO Scene and Auto CAD software. In total 105 trees were measured. Volume data obtained with a laser scanner for the analyzed species were lower in value than the volume obtained using volume tables or empirical equations.
