The oil palm can reach up to 8.0 tons of oil ha ano, presenting great potential for biodiesel production. The aim of this work was evaluated the development of five oil palm cultivars in greenhouse, aiming the future planting of this crop in field in the State of São Paulo. The experimental was randomized block design, with 5 treatments (Cultivar) and 4 repetitions, with 20 seedlings of each cultivar, totaling 100 plants per block. During the period of seedlings formation were evaluated the four-leaf length (CF4 – cm) from 60 to 420 days after sowing, and stem diameter (cm) from 180 to 420 DAP. For CF4 the hybrid did not differed statistically from cultivars BRSC 7201 and 2328, with a value of 64.3 cm. The cultivar BRSC 7201 showed a higher DC values in the period from 300 to 420 DAP, with values ranging from 1.73 to 2.10 cm. It is concluded that the oil palm plants can be transplants to the field from 240 DAP and that at the end of the experiment the cultivars BRSCs 7201, 2328 and the Hybrid had the highest values for CF4 and the cultivar BRSC 7201 the highest value for DC, being characterized as good planting alternatives in the region.
