Chemicalcompositionoftheessentialoilof Eucalyptus globulusLabill., growninMontenegro, wasanalysedbygas chromatography-massspectrometryanditsantimicrobialactivitywasevaluatedagainst 17microorganisms, including foodpoisoningandspoilagebacteriaandhumanpathogens.The Eucalyptusessentialoilyieldwas 1.8%(w/w) onthe freshweightbasis, whereastheanalysisresultedintheidentificationofatotalof11constituents, 1.8cineole (85.8%), α-pinene  (7.2%), and β-myrcene  (1.5%) beingthemaincomponents.  Othercompoundsidentifiedintheoilwere  β-pinene, limonene, α-phellandrene, γ-terpinene,linalool, pinocarveol, terpinen-4-ol, andα-terpineol. Theresultsof theantimicrobialactivitytestsrevealedthattheessentialoilofE. globulushasratherastrongantimicrobialactivity, especiallyagainstStreptococcus pyogenes ,Escherichia coli , Candida albicans ,Staphylococcus aureus , acinetobacter baumannii ,andklebsiella pneumoniae .MinimuminhibitoryconcentrationrevealedthelowestactivityagainstPseu- domonas aeruginosaandSalmonela infantis (3.13mg/ml) whilethehighestactivitywasagainstS. aureus, E. coli ,and S. pyogenes (0.09mg/ml).
