Background. The frequency of overweight and obesity among children increases with age, reaching the highest percentage among teenagers. The epidemic of overweight and obesity is a serious problem to public health. Dietary errors, eating habits acquired in childhood, the desire to please other kids, and unhealthy food offered in school cafeterias should be counted among the list of influential factors. Physical activity is essential for maintaining correct body mass. Insufficient time devoted to physical activity, as well as increased body mass, are both unfavorable factors conducive to the occurrence of high blood pressure, which is one of the diagnostic criteria of metabolic syndrome.
