Background. Catering in schools, which involves meals prepared in accordance with the principles of rational nutrition and provides adequate energy and nutrients, can become an element of prevention of underor overweight, obesity and other chronic diseases in children and adolescents. Objectives. The aim of this study was to evaluate the energy and nutritional values of the lunch menus prepared in primary schools in the Opole Voivodeship. Material and Methods. The study included a 10-day menu worksheets from 10 primary schools in spring. The energy and nutritional values were calculated using DIET 5 software. Based on the established Nutrition Standards, the recommended value for a lunch was defined as 40% of the daily standard. The differences between the obtained results were calculated using Student’s t test, and the values of p ≤ 0.05 were considered significant. Results. The average energy value of analysed meals was 715 kcal, which accounted for 86% of the normal value. The meals contained 16% of protein, 29% of fat, and 55% of carbohydrates. The average vitamin D was 0.93 mg (47% recommended for dinner). The average calcium content was 158.78 mg (40% recommended for dinner). PRACE ORYGINALNE Piel. Zdr.
