Applied as a strategy in research, networking builds crucial professional contacts to improve the potential to produce knowledge. The scientific capital of a scientist tends to increase as the number of scientists with whom they connect increases.Professional networks turn out to be meaningful and beneficial to scientists in several ways. Firstly, professional contacts and networks assist scientists in forging new research alliances. These new research alliances eventually lead to the co-production of knowledge.
