The following article is divided into three parts. In the first one, the fundamental theses that give form to the renewed philosophical tradition of the philosophy of action are described; their philosophical base and differences with the natural events are showed. In the second part, and starting from the proposed notion of what actions are, it is argued that it is promissory to assume actions as the object of study of the social sciences; in technical language, it is maintained that the actions are the ontology of the social reality. In the third part, starting from the inquiry of some reports that deal with the migration in the coffee region, it shows the real possibility that the social sciences researchers may use the philosophy of action as a part of their theoretical premises of research.
