The paper examines tactics of verifying testimonies at the crime scene during the investigation of advenal crimes. Advenal crimes are criminal infringements connected with the acts of advenal persons who commit or perceive a criminal act. An advenal person is understood as a person who is characterized by social and psychological features and acting on the basis of genetically predetermined factors and who, due to their ethnicity, differs from the representatives of Russian macro-ethnos by their ethnic language, folk culture, rituals and ethnic consciousness. Avenal persons (advenals) could be both foreign citizens or naturalized Russians, who possess considerable ethnic features that determine their mentality and behavior. Special tactics, which takes into account these features, has been worked out for investigating actions with their participation. Verification of testimonies at the crime scene is second (after interrogation) most common action in the investigation of advenal crimes against a person, property, public safety, public health and public morals, environmental crimes. Verification of testimonies at the crime scene belongs to the category of experimental investigative actions due to the following circumstances: during verification at the scene the circumstances of the criminally relevant event, which took place earlier when the crime was committed, are recreated (used); there are doubts regarding the validity of the hypothesis developed by the investigator or the validity of the testimony provided by the accused (the suspect), the witness, the victim, which are tested in the experiment; the testimony is verified by the immediate subject of the investigation without using any special knowledge. The tactics of this investigative act could be broken into two groups depending on the tasks addressed: tactics aimed at maximizing observation at the activities of the advenal person (giving the initiative to the person whose testimony is verified, demonstration of actions, offering an opportunity to present a story freely, asking questions); tactics aimed at maximizing observation of the advenal person themselves (observation of their behavior and non-verbal acts, advancing testimony over the visual perception of the verified scene or its specific features, «setting beacons»).
